Gone are the days when I used to go in a cinema hall and only come out after 6 odd Hrs of back-to-back movies. Now-a-days, I hardly have appetite for such fun. But still, I like movies. I watched three from an achieve last weekend -
Being Jane - It felt like a dramatized version of Jane Austin's autobiography. I enjoyed the old British curtsey throughout the movie, had a glimpse of the aristocracy during that time. And I liked the actress playing Jane - she played the role quite flawlessly. I would call its one time worth spending 2 hrs even for people who are not hard-core feminist.
Being there - This is one of those movies which could have been total flop if not for one or two dramatic ecstasy. In this particular case, the credit goes to the director and the lead actor playing the Gardner. The plot goes like this - there is this Gardner who has been working in an old man's house ever since he was a boy. For some reasons unknown, he was never allowed to move out of the house. That means his universe was limited to the house and the garden in that house. One fine morning, the old man dies and the Gardner is asked to leave the house. Now, imagine a man - in his fifties - who has never been out of that one house. Never seen any outside world except for TV. And he packs the suitcase and ventures out. And just by chance, he gets a place in the house of one of the wealthy man with huge influence on the president of the USA. After that his life moves forward in the right direction, all by chance and by the end of the movie, he not only inherits the wealthy man's empire and a beautiful wife, but also there is rumors in the political circles about him becoming the next presidential candidate.
Overall, a time pass movie with a good laugh.
Body of lies - Use of unmanned surveillance aircrafts, brad pitt as a CIA agent, adapting to geography and culture of middle eastern countries - mash these artifacts with an excellent cinematography and you have Body of lies. Story revolves around brad pitt who is working as a senior agent of CIA, trying to prevent the fundamentalist groups from achieving their targets. The story sounds very realistic. A definite watch for those who enjoy spy movies and do not mind a bit of violence here and there.
Now listening, Led Zeppelin-Whole Lotta Love.
